So today I made my first loaf. It was a process, I'm not gonna lie. It took hours because in between mixing and beating and beating again you have to let it rise twice, for an hour each time. I was so excited to get started that I blew through the first few steps before I realized, dang it, I didn't take pics for my blog. So let me catch you up to the pictures.
The ingredients:
Ellie beating the dough for me...
while Coop had a snack.
In the bowl for the first round of rising...

Kris..that is so awesome.. I will be trying this out for sure.. my family too loves bread.. my Eli could eat a whole loaf if I would let him! I have done the homemade laundry detergent, I did the powder, and as someone commented on it on FB, I too found I needed to do a second rinse, but still it's nice to know it's more natural.. than a premix.. I haven't done it in a while... but you are giving me the itch, again!!
Glad to see you are back,
K~
It was SO good too! I just made another loaf tonight because Greg liked it so much I figured I'd better. :)
The detergent I am going to try is also from the simple dollar link I posted. It is a liquid form made in a huge 5 gallon bucket. We'll see how it goes!
Glad to be back and glad I still have at least one reader!
I make Amish white bread every week. My recipe makes enough for two loaves, so I put one out to use immediately, and I put the other one in the freezer. We don't go through bread as quickly as you do, so this will last at least a week or two in my house. I have been making bread for about a year now. It is annoying at first, but after you get into the habit, it is no big deal.
Pizza dough is also a simple and cheap yeasted meal to make. I make pizza all the freaking time now.
