life

Been out of commission lately. Sorry about the lack of updates. We've been sick, I've been working, Ellie's been going to school, Greg's been working, Coop's been Coop and we're all hanging in there.

Nothing to thrilling to post about. Oh, I am finally taking the plunge and getting a phone with internet and email abilities! Wow, jumping into this century. Never thought I would do it. It'll be nice to have for work. So I can pretty much always be reached. Or maybe that isn't such a good thing. Hmm.

poo

Tonight Cooper played with cat poop. Seriously. Mother of the year award nominee here! =) What cool thing has your kid played with lately?

stir crazy

I get this feeling. A feeling I don't like very much. A feeling I often feel guilty for having. A feeling I don't often talk about. A feeling I am sometimes ashamed to have.

This feeling? I HATE staying home all day with my kids.

There. I said it.

I just can't do it. It's not my kids, it's the staying home thing. Remember a couple days ago when I said I would be doing nothing all weekend? Well both yesterday and today we've left the house to do one thing or another. I just cannot stay home all day with them. I get anxious, antsy and irritated. I never could put a name to my feeling but was just reading another blog and she said she was going "stir crazy" and I had my ah ha moment.

I feel stir crazy!

Am I the only one who ever feels this way?

My day is scheduled in chunks. Up at 6/7. Breakfast. Play. Nap for Coop. Lunch. Play. Nap for Coop and Ellie. Play. Dinner. Baths. Bed.

Sometimes I can't stand it. That sounds terrible. I love my kids. I even want more! But the mundane routine just annoys me so much some days.

I am going to start putting Cooper in daycare 1 day e/o week when Ellie is in school. I am feeling desperate lately for some time alone. Greg is working so much (6 days of 12 hr shifts this week alone) and I feel like a single mom a lot of the time.

I never get to go to the grocery store alone. I don't get to go to work alone. Heck, I barely get a chance to ever go to the bathroom alone. I couldn't even get away for 30 minutes this past week to go order myself some new glasses alone. I took Cooper with me. You can imagine how well that went. I am feeling overwhelmed with little bodies and need a break.

Don't get me wrong. I love my babies. But need to start loving me and putting me first every once in a while. Don't they always say to be a good mom you have to take care of yourself first?

a new opportunity

I received a notice for a job opening in the mail today! I wasn't really looking for something else but this sort of just fell into my lap and I am really excited about it. It is very part time so I would do it in addition to my current job.

I immediately called her and went down to the office today to pick up an application. It is right up my alley with Community Health Education for a government funded program. When we finished talking she said, "do apply, I think you'd be great." After I learn more about it I will fill you in. I'm so excited!

fire department

Ellie's class is going to visit the fire department next week. I get to chaperone! Fun! I can't wait. =) On the way home from running errands today she yelled, "Mom! Next week we get to go to the fire hydrant!!!"

Hahahaha! I love her.

today

What a day it's been. Coop was up at 5:20 (!) we got up, I made him toast and cut up a banana and worked a bit. Then by 7 he was ready to go back to bed which worked out perfectly because I was able to take a shower and get ready before having to take Ellie to preschool.

After we took Ellie to school, Coop and I went for a walk to see all the high water in our area. Then we walked to the eye glass store and I ordered me some new glasses! I can't wait to get them they are so super cute! And finally we made our way to get me my drink of choice, an iced vanilla latte and headed to work. I was working (haha, chit chatting with one of my staff) so hard that I wasn't paying attention to the time and I got paged to pick up my daughter at preschool. What a terrible mom I am! The poor thing was sitting on a mat all by herself waiting for me. :( The second I heard the page I went OMG! I FORGOT TO PICK UP ELLIE!!! and bolted for the preschool (which is in the same building I work in.) I guess it didn't phase her at all. She had a little friend there waiting with her mom until I got there, which I thought was so sweet of them to do! I was totally embarrassed... apologized to her teachers and left.

Soon we head to Ellie's first night of gymnastics... oh my, it has been a long day and it isn't even close to over yet! I feel like a chauffeur!

Today has been a gorgeous day. Beautiful blue sky and temps near 70. Nice for October! Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer. I am taking the day off and I can't wait! As a matter of fact I will be doing nothing buy hanging with the kids and having at least one, maybe 2, pj days before Monday. I plan to do a whole lot of nothing this weekend!

gosh my kids are cute!

Today we visited 3 local apple orchards/pumpkin farms and had a BLAST! The kids behaved very well and Cooper did a great job in the car. He is usually a complete turd in the car but was unusually happy.

Here's Ellie enjoying her pumpkin muffin. They were so, so good I cannot wait to figure out the recipe and make them! Actually... Christy from Cakerwakers... do you have a good pumpkin recipe??

There was no chance in us getting them both to smile at us at the same time... oh well.

Thinking back to when Ellie was 1... she would have freaked out had we set her down in a pile of leaves on grass. Oh how different two kids can be, Cooper LOVED it! :)

I changed my comment settings in blogger so for those of you who tried to comment but couldn't please try again now and let me know by email or fb if it still doesn't work. Thanks!

The Disease called Perfection

Wow. Go read my 9/27 entry again... or at least the first paragraph of it and then go read THIS. Single Dad Laughing says it beautifully. I'm speechless (for once). ;)
