home sweet home

We are home. While it's nice to get away, it's so nice to get home!

We left Sunday for Greg's dad's side of the families house in Steven's Point, WI. His grandpa passed away last week. We had a real nice time visiting with his family, some we never get to see. Ellie had a blast getting to know her new "cousin" Emy. We ate to much food, stayed up to late, got up to early and I'm exhausted.

The funeral was a small grave side ceremony in 90 some degree weather at a VA cemetery with no tent above our heads... it was hot and we got burnt... but it was a quick ceremony. I didn't know Greg's grandpa well (I'd met him a few times) but dang it was very emotional for me. It was the mixture of seeing Greg cry, remembering my grandma's very similar ceremony and all the prego hormones running thru my system.

It is just over a 4 hour drive home for us and my body just wasn't to happy about that. I was so uncomfortable in the car and we have a trail blazer so it's not like I didn't have enough room! We came home Tuesday morning since I had another lia sophia party last night (I'm loving this jewelry thing!! It's so much fun!)

Today I have my 28 week OB appt. Update on that to come later. Then off to get some groceries and then come and get some baby clothes separated into lots for ebay. It never seems to end. I seriously feel like I work 10x harder now being a sahm than I did while working 40 hrs a week and being a mommy.

I wish I could just crawl back into bed right now! Tata for now, will be back later this afternoon!

i heart ebay and my new vacuum

Isn't this a bit ridiculous?
7.5 pair of Robeez for one little girl. Yes, .5 because I cannot find the second little green lady bug one to make the pair. Plus, plus (!) we've sold one little pink pair with cherries on ebay already. So I guess that makes 8.5. We are having a garage sale this weekend and I wanted to get these on ebay before the garage sale because I knew we'd make more money on ebay. So far we've sold the cherry pair for $8 and the pink sandals (on the right way in the back) for $4. We've got watchers on every single pair except the tulips and the lonely ladybug. Oh and the hot pink ones on the front right are pretty beat up... those are going directly to the garage sale.

We also posted this pair of Pedipeds:

Ellie wore these so much. They matched everything and they were so, so cute. They ended up staying in excellent condition. The soles look brand new still. These retail for $32. We listed a buy it now price of $12.99 and it was swooped up in less than 24 hours. Would I have gotten $12.99 at a garage sale? I think not. I'm very happy with that sale!

We seriously have hundreds of baby girl - 2T clothes that we are getting rid of. Priced to sell. So if you live in the area send me an email and I'll let you know the time and place!

Oh and one more totally off the topic thing... I have been in NEED of a new vacuum for some time. I just continued using my old junker... well... happy anniversary to me and Greg!! A Bissell Lift Off Pet Vac. L.O.V.E. I.T.!!!!! Thanks mom and dad!

more opinions please...

I'm looking at getting this baby sling. The Sleepy Wrap. It can be worn multiple ways, with babies - toddlers, it's easy to nurse in, and retails for $39.95. (It's very similar to a Moby wrap if any of you are familiar with that one, the main difference between the two - as claimed by the Sleep Wrap people - is that the Moby wrap is made of a lesser quality fabric.)

Anyone have any experience with this one or have a favorite I can research online? Lemme know... thanks!

to cloth or not to cloth

I am considering cloth diapering. There are so many convinient new ways of doing it that it almost seems easy, it is for sure cheaper than disposable and is obviously better for the environment. I feel like I can dedicate the washing time it will need as I will be home now.

Anyone have any experience with this? My faves so far are the Bummis and bumGenius.

I'd love some advice. Thanks.

26 week appt -
  • bp was 104/64 (seems a tad low to me)
  • had protein in my urine again - no swelling yet though so they don't seem real concerned
  • have been having some headaches and seeing stars... they did blood work and my hemoglobin and Hct were a tad low... again nothing big, was just told to quit forgetting to take my vitamins... I always forget them! The lab told me I have the tiniest veins ever and had to draw blood from my hand... OUCH.
  • gained 1lb since my last visit 4 weeks ago... my NP is not real pleased with my weight gain... I am 1lb up from my pre-pregnancy weight... I went down 5lbs in the beginning (to much puking) and now have gained 6lbs back since February.
  • I was still 25 weeks pg at the time of my appt (Monday) and I measured at 29 weeks... my NP said they are ok with a measurement of 2 weeks above or below the week I'm at... I measured almost 4 weeks above where I should have been at... this kinda freaks me out... I'm planning on a late August baby I do believe.
  • drank my lovely glucose test drink... chose lemon-lime this time... blaaah it was gross.
  • forgot to attend a labor and delivery review class... blame it on the scatter-brained pregnant girl.
  • will be attending a sibling class with Ellie in August... can't wait for that... she is going to have a blast learning about the baby... she even gets to bring a baby doll and practice diapering it!
  • have been having some whoo-haa pain... in between whoo-haa #1 and whoo-haa #2 if you know what I mean... where I tore before... ouchy... it's like that little area of skin knows what is coming and it stretching and getting prepared... my NP says to "massage it"... o.u.c.h.y. not so sure about that one... I am dreading that pain again...
Overall I've been feeling pretty good. I'm much more tired last time around. But am adjusting to some life changes lately and have been chasing around a 3 year old... I didn't have either of these things during my first pregnancy. Other than the headaches, some weird restless leg issues in the evening and peeing every 2 minutes I don't have to many complaints. But I am definitely ready for September to get here!!

this n that

How did my sweet itty bitty baby grow up to become an independent, smart, bossy and lovable little 3 year old so fast?!

The yummiest summer dinner I've had so far... it was so pretty I had to take a picture. :)
I have to go to work today and totally don't want to. I just want to sit here and cuddle with Ellie all day and watch Barbie movies. I need to do a post about adjusting to being a mostly sahm... it is WAY harder, more exhausting and overwhelming than I thought it would be! Maybe it's because I'm pg, but dang it people, I've felt more tired in this last week than I have while working full time and running Ellie to and from daycare. More to come...

as requested...

Not the best photo of me... we had just finished Marley and Me and I was bawling, it was almost 10 which is like way past my bedtime and for some reason my belly looks lumpy... which it really is not!?  So anyways, enough excuses.  Me at 24 weeks 6 days.  I'm huge, can you even imagine what I'm going to look like at 39 weeks (if I make it that long)... I've had 2 ultrasounds and both times they've checked for more than one (there's only one) but they keep bumping my due date up earlier and earlier... baby is big.  G.R.E.A.T.
