vacation part 1

As most of you know we live in southern MN. For some reason us Minnesotan's call any sort of vacation, where we travel north, "up north". Well, we're "up north" in WI actually. We being me, Greg and Ellie, my parents and my sister and her husband. We are staying here for the week. It is our 3rd summer at the cabin. As always we are very pleased with everything so far. We have a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom cabin. With a large main kitchen/living room/dining area. Just down the drive is the beach and lake area. It is beautiful. As we go out and about I will take pics and post them for you all to see. If you are ever in the area I would totally recommend a vacation here... if you don't have a week, they also have lodge rooms that can be rented for a night (I think the cabins can be rented for as little as one night also).

Ellie and I left home yesterday morning at 6:45 a.m. (ughh, I know) and hit the road to Red Wing where we picked up daddy after work (he worked until 6 a.m. then got showered and ready for the drive at my parents house). I seriously single handedly packed everything - minus Greg's stuff - for this vacation. That literally wiped me out Saturday! I spent the entire day doing laundry and packing. Ok, enough poor pitty me... So we picked up Greg and met my sis and BIL at Perkins for a quick easy breakfast. I got sick in the Perkins bathroom (TMI, sorry) but I just haven't been feeling good since eating a caesar salad with cajun shrimp at the MOA on Friday after seeing New Kids. Anyways... after breakfast we got on the road... Greg slept for the first 45 min, as he'd been up all night. Ellie was her usual pesty self... whining because she dropped her ball, kicked her flip flops off, wants me to take her cup, and on and on... thankfully Greg woke up and was able to manage her so I could drive. We made one quick stop in Baldwin, WI for gas and treats at Kwik Trip. Shortly after leaving there Ellie and Greg both fell asleep, which was nice, and I continued the drive thru Shell Lake, up to Spooner and then onto Hayward.

We met my parents at Anglers to decide what our plan of action was. Had a few drinks and then headed up the street to do a little shopping. Ellie got a new sweatshirt and a few books. We stopped at the bakery for some donuts, a pie and some other pastry goodies for breakfast. After that we made a quick stop at the liquor store for my beloved bud light lime (yum!), 2 bottles of wine and a few other delectably delicious beverages. Then we hit hellmart for some groceries. Finally we were done and on our way to the cabin. We checked in, relaxed for the evening with deli sandwiches, chips, beer and pop and a few games of bean bags. Went to bed early and I slept awful... Ellie decided to climb into bed with us. Which she never does. Ever. Her sharp little toe nails kept kicking my legs and she kept stealing my pillow. Little terd. We were up bright and early at 6:13... thank you very much Ellie! Then by 8:30 I was back in bed after the rest of the fam woke up to watch Ellie. They took her down to the lake to feed the ducks and went for a walk. Bless them! I love sleep! Now it's 11:50 and I'm blogging when everyone else is outside playing bean bags! I gotta go!

I love how "up north" you all call it bean bags :-) We call it Cornhole, which in itself is not the most attractive name for a game!

Glad you guys are having fun. That is seiously my type of vacation. Hope you start feeling a little better too...
