We received the most kick ass gift for Valentines day from my MIL (thank you Melody!!)... a year pass for our family to the MN Zoo. So we took advantage of it for the first time yesterday. We met a girlfriend of mine, her hubby and their little girl and had a fun morning. We checked out all the indoor areas and one that was sort of an indoor/outdoor thing with native MN animals and burr it was cold! We also went to a bird show that was pretty fun. We left the show and Pete had bird feathers in his hair from the birds flying so low!
Again my mom is doing her part to stimulate the economy and we stopped by their house after the zoo and were surprised with 4 shirts, 2 pair of capri's and a skirt for Ellie, 3 maternity tops for me, a package of blueberries (yum!), a cantaloupe and a bag of yummy honey nut bagels.
Then today she calls me and says she's at Target looking for maternity clothes for me. Geesh. What a mom huh?! I think I have to admit I'm kinda spoiled.
Otherwise she's just feeling bad because she knows we are BROKE as hell because we have to pay in over $1600 in taxes this year. Oh did I say earlier that nothing is going on in our lives... right. I forgot about the taxes. But it's 100% our fault. So whatever. We'll deal with it, live like hermits for the next few months, get behind in a few regular bills (but who isn't these days anyways), hopefully be able to catch up and have some freed up money by summer time and most importantly we'll learn from this and never do it again.
Ok, I guess I do have some things to talk about. Last Thursday we were expecting quite a winter storm, the biggest of the year. My dad called me at work a couple times and said he thought Ellie and I should either a) get going home now (it was maybe around 2) or b) spend the night at their house so I could stay at work all day and not worry about getting home. Greg is on nights so he was at home getting ready to come into town for the night. So he packed up some things and dropped them off for us and we spent the night at my mom and dad's. It just snowed and snowed so we bundled up Ellie and let her play outside while my dad finished up snow blowing and shoveling. She loved it!

Too much damn snow. Sometimes I just don't understand why we live here.

Ok, that's it for now. Greg's home with all my Target goodies from mom and some dinner... gotta go! Bye.

What a great mom. Have u talked names yet? Do tell.
That is awesome of your mom. Sorry you still aren't feeling that great. Soon it will get better (that is what I hear at least). That sucks about the taxes! We still need to get ours done...my husband is procrastinating though!
Yeah for your mom!
Whats up with the paying taxes? I thought people like us ( I think we are in the same bracket) GOT money back, not paid. Do I need to write a letter to your government?
