goodbye gram

Well the hardest days are done. We had grama's wake on Wednesday and her funeral on Thursday. Family came from Virginia, Georgia and Ohio. All my cousins were here (minus 5 of them) which was amazing, we have never had all of us together like that... maybe once like 15 years ago... here we are at my church...

It was such a hard emotional day. It is Friday night right now and I am STILL completely exhausted. I've also gotten a cold on top of it, so that doesn't help much. Grama was buried at Fort Snelling in St. Paul. So after the funeral we had and hour drive to the cemetery... where we had a very short service... it was below freezing and we were outside... it is an amazingly beautiful place for a cemetery... the massive amount of headstones is incredible... there must be hundreds of thousands...

I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm also very sorry about the antics of your aunts and uncles; it's terrible when people can't just focus on the memory of the person who has just passed.

Isn't it sad when people lose sight of the important things.

Just like you said, "Grandma was and still is watching." She knows what's up. I'm proud of you, your mom, Kt, and pretty much all the grandchildren. We were the adults in the whole deal. Being the in-law, it's easy for me to look at things from a non-judgemental perspective. Fortunately I didn't catch wind of too much of the antics. I guess I kinda play dumb when it gets to be too much drama. I will just say this. We all know who we are and what place we take in this family. I wish you and G were able to come out with us last night. We had a blast.

I am so sorry about your grandma. My grandpa died this year too. I was just saying in my blog to someone that funerals bring outthe worst in people. Thanx for visiting my blog. I see we have some of the same people on our blog roll :)

I am very sorry for the loss of your Gramma. I lost mine right before Christmas. Oddly enough that side of the fmaily is fueding over, wills, money and are not the aunts and unels I remember growing up. Thank GOD they have left us cousins out of it.
Glad you have one more guardian angel up there for you and your family.
