this wasn't in the job description...

I believe the stomach flu has invaded our home... or at least Ellie's belly. Greg brought her in to the dr on Thursday morning cause she had been puking on and off since daycare called me to come get her on Tuesday. Besides the puking she still had this horrid cough that was keeping her up at night. Turns out our dr treated her for an ear infection and a possible sinus infection. Good to get those taken care off. Finally. But the puking still continues!! Our dr called the house Thursday night to see how she was and then Friday morning I had to go into work for a few hours and he called me again there to see how the night had gone! What a dr, huh!

We had a second appt on Friday because he wanted to see her once more before the weekend and give her a second dose shot of the antibiotics. I left work to pick Ellie up for her appt and called my sister to tell her to have her ready to go... I called in the midst of Ellie puking yet again. Real nice. My poor sister and dad. They got to clean up that one. Dr appt summed up here: got her 2nd shot, discussed the vomiting, coughing and weight loss (she'd gone from 25.8 lbs at her 18 month appt to 23.4 lbs yesterday and he didn't like this) and he decided he wanted a stool sample to make sure she didn't have giardia or some other long c word. So I've been waiting for her to poop since last night... and of course she hasn't cause she can't keep anything in her stomach! I don't know how they expect me to collect any poop.

This morning was going ok. We started off with some gatorade (she HATES pedialyte) and about an hour later had a fourth of a banana and a slice of toast. While eating the toast she barfed all over her plate. Great. Got it cleaned up.

About 11 we both fell asleep on the couch and I woke up within a few minutes and thought I'd carry her up to bed so I could have some free time. Oh, but no, she woke up and threw up all over the couch and herself. Thank god we were laying on and covered up with blankets! We are still recovering from that episode. She's since had a few bites of banana and a half a piece of toast. We've now switched to 7-up. I'm on my 3rd load of laundry and the little terd WILL NOT take a nap! I'm going to go bonkers in a few seconds here...

I decided to do a little research of my own on the mayo website and this is what I think she has... click here. I'm no dr, but I am a mommy.

I am so sorry! This is just never-ending for poor little Ellie. I had a stomach virus for a like 36 hours a couple of weeks ago, and that was PLENTY for me....I can't even imagine how poor Ellie feels. I will pray for her and just hope that she heals quickly and that the sickness stays away this time.

poor little girl...it is SO sad to watch little kids throw up. It takes everything out of ME...I cant imagine them!

Even if you are all better by the weekend, you may not have the ENERGY to go to the zoo!
