I am starting a modified version of the LA wei.ght los.s program. I will be keeping a journal of my daily meals on my blog. Sorry if this bores you a little but I want to document my progress and at times beg for some support!
Here's the plan, each day I can eat:
2 Proteins
3 Fruits
3 Starches
4 Veggies
2 Dairy's
3 Fats
I also need to drink 64 oz of water every day. I can have 24 oz of pop each day, diet or regular.
A few foods from each category (and a few of my favs):
Proteins - eggs, peanut butter, peanuts, tuna, protein bars, chicken, grape nuts...
Fruits - 1 banana, apple, orange, 17 grapes, 12 strawberries, an 8 oz glass of oj, a small handful of blueberries...
Starches - 2 slices of light bread, 1/2 bagel or english muffin, crackers...
Veggies - steamed or raw broccoli, green beans, carrots, asparagus...
Dairy - 8 oz glass of milk, 1 cup cottage cheese, 2 oz sliced cheese, 1 piece of string cheese, 1 cup of yogurt
Fats - 1 tbs mayo, 1 tbs butter...
It is a plan I really think I can stick to. I will never call this a diet, but a lifestyle change. I am long overdue for this lifestyle change.
The most exciting thing is that G is totally on board too! Today has been a great day and I do not feel hungry at all. I feel kind of like I have been grazing all day... eating 3 meals and 2 snacks.
Today I ate:
Breakfast - Smoothie (1 strawberry fat free yogurt (I like yoplait), 1 banana, 2/3 cup of oj and 5 ice cubes)
Snack - Ka.shi protein bar
Lunch - baby carrots and fat free (ff) dill dip, 10 club crackers
Snack - 1 slice whole wheat bread with 1 tbs peanut butter
Dinner - 1 cup ff vanilla yogurt, a handful of blueberries and a tbs of grapenuts sprinkled on top and a glass of grapefruit juice (super nummy!)

I am 14 oz away from my full 64 oz of water for the day. I add a Lip.ton Iced Tea mix in apple cranberry to every 16 oz's I drink, which helps make it yummy. I don't love drinking plain water. I have not had a single pop! (Which I can't believe! And I don't even have a headache!)
So after day one... I must say... it wasn't bad. I felt full all day. I like the idea of eating 5 times a day. I really didn't get a chance to get hungry. I felt good about what I was eating and drinking. I know I didn't get enough veggies. We will be doing our major grocery trip on Thursday or Friday, so then I will pick up some cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, green beans and carrots. Canned veggies are a no-no. This plan encourages low sodium foods and low fat foods.
I have not yet decided if I want to actually post my weight as I go along. I need more time to think about it. The # right now is scary and embarrassing... not sure if I want to go there. For now we'll just say I'll be happy to lose about 45-60lbs.
Thanks to my friend Mik I think I am finally on to something here. As she was teaching me about the program I mentioned that I am looking to buy a treadmill, preferably a used one. Well, it just happened that she was currently living in an apartment building that had a workout center... so her treadmill was sitting at her parents house taking up space! So guess where it is now???? In my living room!!!!! I'm so pumped :)
So that's what I know for now. I am going to get to bed (and hopefully not be up peeing all night long from all this damn water!) Please send your positive thoughts my way so that I'll will have the motivation to continue on with this program resulting in a happy, healthier and more energetic me! :)

You can do it! I started Weight Watchers back in Jan. for the third time, I was down 12 pounds but I had a bad two weeks and gained back 2. Oops! I need to get back on track, I'll use you as my motivation!
GOOD LUCK!!! Blueberries are so good for you YJM! And could you Fed-ex one of those smoothies over I keep hearing about? I love my treadmill...ofcourse I haven't been on it for 5 months but hopefully after H comes!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Good luck!! I can't believe that's all you ate in one entire day. If you do that every day you'll weigh 85 pounds before you know it.
I hate that trying to be healthy and drink all that water is such a pain in the middle of the night!
Although I have heard that eventually your body will adjust and not pee as much.
Thanks for sharing all of the info with me over the phone last night. I am thinking that I am going to join you in the venture. Maybe I will blog about it also. It will give me something to write about. Good luck! To both of us!
Good for you! I am glad to hear its not a diet but a lifestyle change for you...that means it WILL work! and I drink that much water all the time and only pee alot during pregnancy....so it will be just fine! =)
You're crazy girl. I think I ate more for breakfast that you ate all day. SERIOUSLY.
You go girl!!!
I am on Weight Watchers too.. I love the program and its easy to follow... The first week (ok 3 weeks) are the hardest but then it becomes less work.. I will be back to cheer you on!!
